ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based education to staff. The incumbent of this position will provide educational instruction and training for nursing staff in clinical and outpatient units.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>This recruitment has a driving requirement. The incumbent of this position may be required to drive to Tomah's Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) to train RN staff. The Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising staff education. The person in this role delivers a fundamental understanding of adult learning principles and a lifelong learner that can practice with flexibility to adapt or change learning strategies based on the assessment of learning needs within the healthcare organization. The CNE also assumes responsibility for the coordination of education focused on staff education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the healthcare continuum. The RN - CNE is also responsible for the following duties: Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational needs to facilitate learner development and skill training of clinical staff. Performing learning needs assessments, developing educational trainings for clinical staff within organization. Assisting with the orientation of new employees, evaluation of their progress in the orientation process, and development and implementation of a learning plan for improving identified deficiencies. Serving as a trainer and consultant for Resuscitation Education Initiative (Redi) Program, including certification as Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor. Monitoring and tracking BLS/Advanced Life Support (ALS) compliance within the organization. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support and evaluate responses to emergency responses in the facility (to include BLS and ALS). Organizing, participating, and evaluating mock codes. Supporting nurse residency programs, including the development of curriculum, using strategic learning methodologies such as simulation, lecture case studies and virtual reality. Developing proficient level coaching and mentoring skills. Systematically evaluating current practice, formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within area of expertise. Collaborating with other Clinical Nurse Educators and interprofessional healthcare teams in the ongoing clinical education activities, including in-services, training, competency assessment, and evaluations of both current and new staff nursing skills. The ACEN accredits all levels of nursing programs, including clinical doctorate, masters/post master's certificate, baccalaureate, associate and diploma nursing education programs. (Note: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission/NLNAC changed its name to ACEN in May 2013.
