ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Registered Nurse (Reusable Medical Devices Coordinator). The Registered Nurse (Reusable Medical Devices Coordinator) will function within Sterile Processing Service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The duties of the Registered Nurse (Reusable Medical Devices Coordinator) include, but are not limited to: Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising the processing of devices. Monitors, analyzes, and provides consultation on infection control issues regarding RMD Program. Participates in clinical rounds to assist in the need and verification of each service's SOP's for RMD. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex situations. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Responsible for providing clinical knowledge in the processes used for all critical, semi-critical, and non-critical Reusable Medical Equipment (RMD) per manufacturers' instructions for use (IFU) throughout the facility. Responsible for quality management, reprocessing activities pertaining to training, competency assessment, development of SOP's based on manufacturers' IFU, and aiding in succession planning for all areas of RMD. Collaborates with other personnel in assuring that all staff understand the clinical evidence and reasoning regarding changes affecting the RMD Program and establishes a strong partnership with the Infection Prevention (IP) staff. Responsible for the implementation and compliance of RMD processes within the recommended practices of various governing organizations, i.e., International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), Association of perioperative Registered Nurse (AORN), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AMMI), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) directives and organization policy and procedures.
