<p>The Resource Pool/Float Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care to multiple areas of nursing. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Resource Pool/Float Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care to multiple areas of nursing. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units. The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills. Includes other duties but are not limited to: Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs and specific care of the patients served in the assigned area of practice. Ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments. Seeks guidance in how to improve care provided to patients and families. Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Practice includes directing other providers. Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs and specific care of the patients served in the assigned area of practice. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum. This nurse integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations for varying areas of nursing. Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in multiple care units. The Resource Pool-Float Registered Nurse executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. The Resource Pool-Float Registered Nurse collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. The Resource Pool-Float Registered Nurse demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care of all patient care areas included within Resource Pool/Float assignments. The Resource Pool-Float Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs and specific care of the patients served in the assigned area of practice. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
