<p>Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self - management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>* The Quality Management section nurse provides direct staff support to top management, Service Chiefs, and others in planning, designing, implementing, modifying, and administering an effective Quality Management and Performance Improvement (PI) Program with the goals of improving patient care throughout the Medical Center. * Responsibilities cross service lines and require effective communication and collaboration with staff at many levels in the Medical Center and at the VISN level. * The RN provides guidance related to regulatory agencies, VHA regulations and Directives, and other certifying agencies to his/her assigned services and programs at the VA Illiana Health Care System. * S/he reports to the Chief of Quality Management in all issues related to the administration, integrity, and conduct of the quality assurance activities of VASQIP and is responsible for its day-to-day data collection evaluation activities. * S/he provides leadership in problem-solving on a facility level to assure quality data is collected within the appropriate timeframes. * The incumbent is the MH Liaison for Quality Management and serves as a consultant for the MH programs and services related to mental health needs to include Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery Services (ICMHR), Acute Mental Health, Mental Health Clinic, Residential Rehabilitation treatment program (RRTP), Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Substance Abuse programs, and Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program. * Duties of this position directly affect the internal security of the agency. * Internal security includes investigations/audits of patient care records for several purposes such as fact finding, sentinel events, surveillance, performance improvement, root cause analyses, FMEA, and regulatory agency requests (i.e., OIG, TJC, etc.) which are imperative to the functional operation of the organization in carrying out its mission to improve health care for our veterans.
