ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System is seeking a Quality Management consultant (infection Prevention/Patient Safety) to serve our Leavenworth VA facility.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Quality Management (QM) Consultant is responsible for all activities within their assigned quality management program areas for the Medical Center and its off-site locations. This includes collecting data; monitoring compliance with policies, directives, and standards; identifying trends; and preparing reports. The consultant provides direct support to services in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and administering a comprehensive quality management program. The role includes participation in various facility councils, committees, and workgroups, and supports administrative functions essential to the management of a healthcare delivery system. Primary focus areas include Infection Prevention and Patient Safety Management. The incumbent conducts surveillance and monitoring activities to identify and reduce infection risks among patients, employees, visitors, and students, and contributes to the annual Infection Control Risk Assessment. The consultant provides education and ongoing training on infection control, epidemiology, and related practices, and serves as a resource to staff across the organization. The incumbent collaborates with employee occupational health and interdisciplinary teams. The incumbent collects, analyzes, and interprets infection control and patient safety data to identify trends, develop reports, and recommend improvement initiatives. The Incumbent Develops, reviews, and updates policies and procedures related to infection control and patient safety to ensure best practices are followed. The incumbent may lead investigations of infection outbreaks within the facility, implementing control measures and recommending strategies to prevent recurrence and promotes health and safety by educating patients and staff on preventive measures and proper hygiene practices to minimize the risk of infections.
