<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Western New York VA Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to work Full Time (Day/Night) on the Mental Health PTSD Domiciliary Team at the Batavia VA Location. The PTSD Domiciliary - Registered Nurse is responsible for providing and leading the provision of competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients, and will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. The incumbent actively participates in mental health interdisciplinary treatment team, patient safety and environment of care rounds, and responds to psychiatric and medical care needs and emergencies as directed. He/she facilitates shift report, warm hand-offs, and nurse-led psychoeducational groups; use therapeutic communication techniques, practice de-escalation techniques, utilize recovery-oriented language, and provide oversight of the patient safe medication management program. The incumbent reports safety concerns, and documents nursing assessments, risk screens, nursing plan of care, patient safety rounds, and environment of care rounds according to facility policy. He/she maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient, and fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. The duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assume responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follow procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Responsible for knowledge and active participation in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Execute position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Support colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care and questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. All other duties as assigned.
