ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The Domiciliary Mental Health (MH) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care. The domiciliary RN provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care and maintains self-awareness while caring for patients living with substance use disorder and/or MH conditions. The domiciliary RN actively participates in MH interdisciplinary treatment team, patient safety and environment of care rounds, and responds to psychiatric and medical care needs as directed.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The primary responsibilities of this Registered Nurse may vary by assignment. Those duties may include but not limited to: Deliver professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with general supervision. Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks ensuring assigned delegated tasks are completed by team members. Provide Veteran/patient driven care by optimizing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for assigned patients. Communicate and collaborate as an effective member of the interprofessional team, demonstrating progression from team member to team leader. Establish a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to achieve optimal function through assessment and treatment of their health enhancing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety. Demonstrates the ability to communicate confidently with members of the healthcare team and demonstrate professional behaviors that promotes cooperation and teamwork. Seeks knowledge and learning opportunities that support current nursing practice and self-evaluation. Applies evidence-based practice/research, considering patient preferences to improve quality of care and resource utilization for assigned patients. Seek out new learning opportunities and share evidence-based practice/research with peers to improve patient care. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
