<p>At the VA Iowa City Health Care System, strengthen a safer therapeutic work environment by coordinating Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior education that supports staff preparedness, de-escalation, and Veteran safety.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Serve as the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) Program Manager and coordinate and oversee workplace violence prevention and de-escalation education programs across the organization. Plan and facilitate PMDB training, support staff preparedness and safety initiatives, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and leadership committees. Monitor program compliance, conduct behavioral risk assessment activities, and support quality improvement efforts related to employee and Veteran safety. Provide consultation, data tracking, reporting, and educational support to promote a safe therapeutic work environment while ensuring alignment with organizational and national program requirements. Provide educational instruction and training for all staff requiring PMDB education in clinical, outpatient, and support service settings related to workplace violence prevention, de-escalation strategies, behavioral emergency response, and employee safety initiatives. Coordinate and manage training activities associated with the PMDB program, including scheduling initial and annual refresher training for over 2,000 employees across 15 geographically separated locations throughout Iowa and western Illinois. Coordinate PMDB training through the Training Management System (TMS) and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained within the Employee Education System (EES). Obtain and maintain facility and master-level PMDB trainer certification and collaborate with facility trainers to ensure adequate instructor coverage and ongoing continuing education for PMDB trainers throughout the organization. Monitor organizational compliance with PMDB education requirements, utilize TMS and other tracking systems to complete annual PMDB training reports, monitor program effectiveness, and support training requirements based on identified risk levels. Serve as a mandatory member of the Disruptive Behavior Committee (DBC); coordinate and support completion of the annual Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment; provide administrative support related to collection, tracking, trending, and reporting of data involving acute behavioral incidents and disruptive behavior events; assist with administrative inquiries; support implementation of policies and procedures related to behavioral response and workplace violence prevention initiatives; and track employee compliance with educational standards related to workplace violence prevention in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs and national policy.
