<p>This Registered Nurse - Polytrauma Rehabilitation - Unit 2B position is located at the Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. Please learn more about the position below, along with the duties.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Registered Nurse (Polytrauma Rehabilitation Unit) 2B is directly responsible to the designated manager in the assigned area; the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran patient population. The Registered Nurse possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting, which will then enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illnesses, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the dying patient and significant others. Role responsibilities and accountabilities also include demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice. This knowledge includes understanding changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population. Duties include, but are not limited to: -Functions as an integral member of the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) interdisciplinary team and responsible for accurate clinical assessments, interventions, evaluations, and documentation of care for the patients. -Demonstrate an organized and systematic process for problem solving and prioritizing the needed delivery of care. -Perform nursing physical and psychosocial assessments, utilizes nursing process to achieve individualized patient outcomes. -Direct the care provided by Licensed Practical Nurse, Nursing Assistants, and Health Technician. -Have knowledge and ability to provide safe holistic patient centered care to veterans and active-duty service members within the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centre. -Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) , patient, family, and caregiver training. -Provide direct care services to a culturally diverse group of patients with medical/surgical and rehabilitation needs through coordination of services within the Medical Center. This Staff Nurse will be responsible for facilitating the care of the patient population which includes polytraumatic injuries/traumatic brain injuries sustained on military deployment for Active-Duty Service members, motor vehicle accidents, stroke rehabilitation, emerging consciousness patients, and general rehabilitation. This position will help facilitate discharge planning and improve outcomes of patient care.
