<p>The Perioperative Clinic Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned surgical patients. The Perioperative Clinic Coordinator is responsive to patient and provider requests and ensures customer satisfaction which reflects an understanding of surgical procedures. They are an integral part of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate appropriate patient assessments preoperatively.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. Assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates care based on specific surgical components. Provides comprehensive, professional, and personalized preparation of patients prior to surgical and/or medical procedures, to include patients scheduled to receive sedation and anesthesia care in the surgical setting. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. The Perioperative Clinic Coordinator acts as the patient advocate and answers patient inquiries and resolves patient concerns. Collaborates with specialty clinic coordinators, Operating Room (OR) staff, anesthesia providers, and adjunct providers as needed to ensure complete preparation for the surgical patient. Responsible for maintaining metrics related to clinic performance goals and objectives and participates in continuous quality improvement projects. Makes caring for the Veteran their priority while in the work setting and demonstrates customer service principles in all aspects of work. Practices within the guidelines of the policies, standard operating procedures (SOP), and standards of care relative to the continuity of care for pre­operative surgical candidates. Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities while displaying competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills.
