ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The Registered Nurse (RN) Outpatient provides competent, evidence-based care in the outpatient setting, oversees LVNs and nursing assistants, and coordinates patient care across the continuum. This role includes patient and family education, supporting self-management after discharge, and contributing to customer satisfaction. The nurse also assists with nursing education, orientation, competency development, quality improvement, and outcomes-based consultation.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Registered Nurse is accountable for all aspects of the nursing process when providing or supervising patient care. Key responsibilities include coordinating care with a focus on patient education, self-management, and patient satisfaction. The nurse administers medications and procedures according to policy, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to improve outcomes, and actively participates in quality improvement and customer service initiatives at the unit or program level. Duties include but not limited to the following: Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic, outpatient care through collaborative strategies with others. Evaluates practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality outpatient nursing care. Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Questions outpatient clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participates in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture.
