The RN will execute responsibilities demonstrating beginning leadership skills and will have participated in leadership experiences; preferred experience in leadership roles. They will demonstrate creative approaches to the management of program aspects of complex patient care. Major duties may include but not limited too: Demonstrating performance and leadership that is broad enough to impact the standard of care and safety of staff while caring for all patients throughout the continuum of care. Functions as the lead manager and implementer of patient safety policies and activities developed by the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) and is the facility's key person to help build and implement patient safety systems and promote the culture of safety within Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities and for VA patients in all healthcare settings. Will provide direct support to the development, maintenance, and operation of the VHA's patient safety process at the facility level, including working with all levels of staff within the facility, including top-level management, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) team members, RCA team leaders, and RCA recorders. Responsible for leading a facility wide program for all services within the organization that meets the requirements of National Directives. Will oversee the provision of staff education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement consultation related to the program. Integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations. Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Continuously evaluates the program, collecting and submitting facility performance measures All other duties as assigned Preferred Experience: Prior Patient Safety Experience Supervisory Controls: The incumbent is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is accountable to the Associate Director of Patient Care Services (ADPCS).
