ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This Registered Nurse (Pain Management) is located at the Kansas City VA Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Provides leadership to clinical support team for interprofessional care of patients with complex pain-related needs and intuitively identifies primary source of patients' problems based on knowledge and experience with patients experiencing pain.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include, but are not limited to: Identify recurrent, meaningful, situational parameters for patients receiving moderate sedation with close supervision by the provider; seeks direction on how to assist provider with procedures. Identify healthcare interventions/actions and their effect on long-range goals with patients Assists provider with routine procedures. Manages workload; learns about the application of pain theory; provides basic education to patients on routine procedures. provides leadership to clinical support team for interprofessional care of patients with complex pain-related needs and intuitively identifies primary source of patients' problems based on knowledge and experience with patients experiencing pain. Provides patient-specific pain education to patients and families related to routine and complex procedures. Develops audits and/or research activities to improve evidence-based standards of care. Advocates for a Whole Health model of care and treatment of patients with pain and provides leadership to clinical support staff in advocating for patients' care and rights beyond immediate care needs. Provides education to nurses and other healthcare professionals on pain theory and nursing care of patients with acute and persistent pain outside of the inpatient setting locally, regionally, and nationally.
