ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Day Shift Pain Management Registered Nurse (RN) will assist our Veterans at the Leavenworth and Topeka, KS VAMCs.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Assists physician(s) with nursing-related care for pain procedures. Performs pre- and post-procedural care of pain patients. Performs ambulatory pain clinic nursing care. Provides full range of nursing services utilizing the nursing process. Assess the needs of Veterans and caregivers while coordinating services across a multidisciplinary team. Deliver education focused on chronic disease management, reducing hospitalizations, and promoting independence. Build strong, supportive relationships with Veterans and their families. Administers prescribed therapies using nursing judgement. Promotes discharge planning and follow up care as needed. Listens to and includes patient and family in plan of care. Provide feedback and patient education. Communicates with Veterans on their health care options including local VA, other VA medical centers and community-based eligibility. Educates providers on medical management processes. Provides clinical knowledge and acts as a clinical resource to non-clinical multidisciplinary staff. Other duties assigned. Preferred Experience: A year or more of Pain Management experience. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
