ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>Specialty Care Outpatient Staff RN is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal specialty care. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. This nurse provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a two-division campus located in Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY serving 15 counties in Southwest OH, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana with 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Bellevue, KY; Florence, KY; Lawrenceburg, IN; Hamilton, OH; Clermont County, OH, and Georgetown, OH. The CVAMC also supports two off main campus locations in the Cincinnati area via an Eye Center and Mental Health Outreach Community Division. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The major duties of the Specialty Care Outpatient Staff RN includes but is not limited to: Assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Plans and delivers technically competent care to patients in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks ensuring assigned delegated tasks are completed by team members. Manages nursing care of patients, organizes, and completes own assignments in a safe and timely manner, assisting team members as necessary. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care. Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to achieve optimal function through assessment and treatment of their health enhancing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety. Engages patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination. Independently plans and delivers technically competent care to patients with complex needs in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Functions as an emerging leader in providing direction to staff to identify, implement and evaluate patient care needs. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the plan of care is achieved. Recognizes ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and models appropriate action by providing and directing others in the provision of care following established policies and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Models' high reliability principles and ICARE values to improve patient outcomes. Actively contributes to the collaboration process and clearly communicates ideas to promote team success. Makes meaningful and challenging contributions for the betterment of the work group. Promotes collaborative behavior and team efforts.
