ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Nursing Officer of the Day (NOD) Registered Nurse (RN) directs position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex patient care. S/he demonstrates the ability to plan and organize the delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>https://youtu.be/LM35k1p_3Tc?si=6wdZw0Lag331XBMR Duties JOA - Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Deliver and coordinate safe, efficient, and effective patient care across all facility areas. Provide and direct nursing care using the nursing process: data collection, assessment, clinical judgment, and evaluation. Promote health maintenance and illness/injury prevention. Communicate and interpret hospital and nursing policies for staff, physicians, and other personnel to support quality care. Address employee conduct issues using open, constructive communication. Support and apply nursing research and evidence-based practices to improve patient and departmental outcomes. Facilitate appropriate patient placement based on census, acuity, staffing, and anticipated admissions. Use fiscally responsible judgment when allocating and utilizing resources. Assign float pool staff as needed. Respond to codes, rapid responses, and patient deaths. Communicate clinical knowledge and judgment to involve staff in planning, decision-making, and outcome evaluation. Maintain foundational knowledge of clinical practice appropriate to assigned roles. Collaborate with staff to integrate professional standards, scientific evidence, and best practices into programs or service activities. Seek continued knowledge and leadership development to manage complex situations. Assume authority and accountability for staffing, resource allocation, and oversight during weekends, holidays, and off-tour hours in the absence of leadership. Conduct rounding and serve as a consultant to providers. Collaborate with the Administrative Officer of the Day and interdisciplinary team for patient care decisions and emergency/disaster response. Provide programmatic outcomes and feedback to nursing leadership to improve processes and patient care delivery.
