ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The Nurse Manager (NM) for the Specialty Outpatient Clinics at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center will provide leadership and oversight for clinics located in Gainesville and Lake City, Florida. The NM is the designated first-line supervisory authority, is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units, and provides coverage for other NMs as needed.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Nurse Manager (NM) is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Functions or scope of assigned duties include but are not limited to: Organizes care delivery for the clinic programs in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a manner that promotes continuity and accountability for patient care. Provides direct care to the clinic patient(s). Participates in the development of Service Line/Service philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures. Implements procedures and monitors compliance by staff members. Initiates and implements corrective actions as indicated. Initiates and leads program planning and problem identification/resolution, leading to an improvement of care for the clinic program and unit. Manages assigned resources and identifies creative strategies to increase efficiency within area(s) and program. Evaluates unit-based staffing needs in terms of quantity and practice level of personnel required. Prepares reports and analyzes data to assure resources are efficiently used, while providing quality care in assigned area(s). Takes a leadership role in providing input and participating in the budgetary process at the area(s) and service level. Evaluates the need for new equipment, plans for future equipment, and space needs on the unit. Explores and evaluates equipment options and completes preparation of the required request. Manages assigned control funds. Collaborates with other professionals to participate in the recruitment and retention of quality staff. Addresses performance issues and conduct problems promptly. Completes performance appraisals and proficiency reports on time, allowing for staff participation with the evaluation process. Recognizes and rewards positive performance and outcomes. Monitors standards of care and practice application in assigned area(s) and initiates/leads changes as appropriate. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
