<p>The Nurse Manager is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other Nurse Manager's as needed. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>A Career At VA Salt Lake City Health Care System Can Take You Places (youtube.com) Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Oversees daily operations of the infusion clinic, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusions. Provides clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff, including performance management, scheduling, training, and competency validation. Ensures adherence to VA, federal, state, and professional standards related to oncology nursing, infusion therapy, and patient safety. Maintains compliance with chemotherapy handling, administration, and disposal guidelines. Coordinates with pharmacy to ensure accurate chemotherapy preparation, timely delivery, and adherence to safety protocols. Monitors patient flow, staffing levels, and resource utilization to optimize clinic throughput and patient experience. Develop, update, and enforce policies and procedures related to infusion therapy and chemotherapy administration. Oversees documentation quality and ensure accurate, timely entry into the electronic health record with emphasis on completing encounters and signing. Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, infection control, medication administration, and adherence to VA performance measures. Serves as a clinical resource for complex patient care situations requiring advanced infusion or oncology nursing expertise. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams including oncology providers, pharmacists, social workers, and administrative leaders. Ensures staff education on new therapies, equipment, safety standards, and clinical protocols. Manages patient and staff concerns, de-escalate issues, and support patient-centered care. Maintains readiness for regulatory surveys and accreditation visits. Coordinates procurement and maintenance of infusion equipment, supplies, and personal protective equipment. Analyzes operational and clinical data to guide decision-making and resource planning. Participates in budget planning, cost containment initiatives, and resource management. Promotes a culture of safety, teamwork, professional development, and continuous improvement. Holds staff accountable for efficient, high-quality performance by setting clear expectations, recognizing, and rewarding excellent work, and promptly addressing poor or marginal performance, up to and including corrective action. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to design and refine care delivery and environmental models that ensure accessible, affordable, equitable, and evidence-based occupational health services.
