ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Registered Nurse, Minimum Data Set (MDS), Community Living Center (CLC), executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex resident care. The RN MDS collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. The RN MDS demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for CLC residents.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The RN, MDS CLC performs duties that include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for coding the sections of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI)/MDS Assessment and the Care Area Assessments (CAAs) that are assigned to nursing, adhering to current Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) timeframes of assessment completion. Participates in the CLC Interdisciplinary Team care plan meetings and reviewing, communicating, and monitoring the residents' care plan. Collaborates with the CLC Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC) to educate CLC staff on the completion of the RAI/MDS process; this includes but is not limited to documentation requirements for accurate MDS data entry, educational sessions pertaining to RAI/MDS software and program updates as needed. Supports quality improvement activities based on CLC quality management data. Participating in ongoing survey readiness activities in the CLC. Documents and takes corrective action when notified by the CLC management team, charge nurse, or designee of any discrepancies in coding or documentation of RAI/MDS assessments and CAAs reported during the interrater reliability review. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.
