ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Wichita, Kansas is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse for their Medical Surgical Unit.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The staff nurse provides care that compensates for or assists in meeting the health-related self-care deficits of the Veteran patient. The care provided will result in a) meeting of existent/emerging self-care demands, and/or b) enhancing or developing self-care. The Medical/Surgical unit consists of a smaller 10 bed telemetry unit and a 19 bed Medical Surgical unit. The unit is open 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. The Medical Surgical nurse is expected to be proficient in all areas of caring for acutely ill patients. The department is a fast-paced area that provides care for patients with multiple, complex co-morbidities, both medical and surgical. Each area requires excellent assessment skills and critical thinking ability. Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing conditions of patients and communicate effectively with other healthcare providers.
