<p>This position is located at the Lebanon VA Medical Center within the Medical Surgical Telemetry service line.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The medical/surgical/telemetry RN is a key member of the multidisciplinary team who will utilize the nursing process and evidence-based practice in order to develop individual plans of care for patients in the med/surg/tele unit. The RN is responsible for patient advocacy, collaboration with other team members, promoting effective communication, and ethical practice. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Responsible for monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms and reporting to physicians and intervening as needed. Must maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification in order to deliver care to the Med/Surg/Tele patient population. The RN in collaboration with patient and family members builds a patient education plan that meets their educational needs of the patient and the family. The Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. Evaluates practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. *Additional duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 1900-0700 with rotating weekends and holidays Additional Pay: Shift Differential - 10% of basic pay for work performed during regularly scheduled hours between 6pm and 6am. Weekend Premium - 25% of basic pay for work performed between the hours of midnight Friday and midnight Sunday.
