ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The VA seeks one Registered Nurse (RN) for the Margaret Cochran Corbin VA Campus for a Medical Surgical Telemetry Inpatient unit. The RN delivers compassionate, high-quality care to Veterans and is accountable for all aspects of the nursing process. Duties include coordinating care, supporting Veteran education and self-management, ensuring patient satisfaction, administering medications and procedures per policy, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to improve outcomes.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties Include but not limited to: Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. Assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. Evaluate practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence. Provide peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contribute professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partner with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Support colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Share educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Question clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participate in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture. This is a VA-New York Harbor Healthcare Position. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
