ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Nurse Manager for CLC East is based at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. As the primary supervisory authority with 24/7 accountability, the Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the operational management of assigned units and provides coverage for other nurse managers as needed. Serving as a clinical expert, the Nurse Manager oversees all elements of the nursing process in the provision or supervision of direct patient care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Nurse Manager is the designated first-line supervisory authority; responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned units and clinic nursing team operations, ensuring that subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice. This includes the authority to accept, amend, or reject the work of subordinates and provides coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed. Job duties include, but are not limited: Enhances care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates; evaluating the performance of subordinates. Making recommendations for appointments, advancements, or reassignments of subordinates. Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters. Leads and organizes delivery of care to ensure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Applies advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting. Leads staff to identify, analyze and address ethical issues that impact patients, caregivers and staff beyond the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates positive, effective communication skills, professional behaviors and leadership that promotes a commitment to excellence, improving nursing practice, and fostering collaboration among customers beyond the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates resilience in coping with challenging and stressful situations, to assist others in increasing their self-determination and competence beyond the immediate practice setting. Initiates and leads interdisciplinary teams that utilize critical thinking to improve nursing practice beyond the immediate practice setting. Guides the professional growth of others beyond the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates expertise by integrating patient preferences into care delivery decisions and sharing knowledge and outcomes with peers beyond the immediate practice setting. Demonstrates competencies in clinical practice, staff development, and leadership. Additionally responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
