ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This Registered Nurse (Inpatient/Intermittent) position is located within the Nursing, Operations service line of the VA Providence Healthcare System. This is an intermittent (per diem) position.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Registered Nurse (Inpatient/Intermittent) position delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Duties included but are not limited to: Provides comprehensive, safe and effective nursing care to patients admitted to inpatient medical-surgical and step-down levels of care. Documents initial/ongoing patient assessment and plan of care. Makes quick and accurate assessments in the care of acute and chronically ill patients. Identifies and manages life-sustaining physiological functions in unstable patients. Has knowledge of normal and abnormal findings and reports findings. Has knowledge of telemetry, hemodynamics, phlebotomy, basic IV and central line skills. Educates and/or monitors the patients regarding procedures, treatments, and discharge information Attends code blues and rapid responses as needed. Other duties as assigned. This position is not a Bargaining Unit position.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. If your school has changed names, or is no longer in existence, you must provide this information in your application.
