ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The Registered Nurse Informaticist is located in the Deployment Office of the Electronic Health Records Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) located within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of VA (DEPSECVA). EHRM-IO is responsible for ensuring that VA successfully prepares for, deploys, and transitions to a new electronic health record (EHR) system. This position will be physically located in a VA owned or leased office/space and require up to 75% official travel.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Note: Applicant cut-off will be to the first 200 Applicants. Major duties: The Nurse IV has expertise in deployment of health informatics (HI) and health information technology. The incumbent is expected to be an expert in transformational change and must demonstrate an ability to understand the needs of their professional counterparts, demonstrate understanding of the organizational structure, and the role that informatics plays across the enterprise. The incumbent should demonstrate the following core informatics functions at the intermediate to advanced proficiency level to include content and project management, application support, health information technology system optimization, enterprise data management and associated tools, business architecture management, partnership management, requirements management, and change management. The incumbent demonstrates competencies as an informatics expert who possesses a wide range of experience and leadership ability. The incumbent supports the integration and collaboration of all inter-disciplinary and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient-centered and organizational goals. They champion a high reliability organization (HRO) with a culture of safety founded on a systems approach to developing evidence-based health care solutions based on prevention, not punishment, with collective mindfulness. The incumbent must possess leadership competencies in oversight of deployment activities from an enterprise or complex multi-system perspective. The incumbent collaborates and leads interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at VA medical centers, Veterans Integrated Services Networks (VISN), and VHA Central Office. They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm ET Telework: Available at manager's discretion. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6); OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associated degree/entry level Nursing education program. Credit for foreign nursing education higher that associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD). IMPORTANT: A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Note: Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment.
