ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process, influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team, and executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches, and systematically evaluates current practice. Demonstrates the following core informatics functions to include content management, application support, health information technology system optimization and enterprise data management.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Informaticist Registered Nurse demonstrates the following core informatics functions to include content management, application support, health information technology system optimization, enterprise data management, business architecture management, partnership management, requirements management, and change management. Duties listed but are not limited to: Exercises leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of hardware and software applications integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and associated programs/applications. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility/practice setting and network. Works closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. Assists in directing the provision of education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. The lnformaticist RN is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Synthetizes available data, information, and knowledge relevant to the situation to identify patterns and variances. Develops recommendations and nursing informatics strategies to address and resolve complex issues and problems. Establishes formal and informal consultative relationships that can also provide professional development and mentorship opportunities. Applies advanced clinical knowledge/judgement to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
