ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The San Francisco VA Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Outpatient Specialty Care and Infectious Disease Clinic.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major duties include but not limited to: Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Practices as a registered nurse within the Specialty Outpatient Clinics. These clinics include but are not limited to Orthopedics, General/Thoracic/Vascular Surgery, Hematology/Oncology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Ear Nose & Throat, Pulmonary, Infectious Disease, Urology, Rheumatology, Neurology, Dermatology & Podiatry. Clinical responsibilities, which may include the proper intake and exit of the veteran at clinic visit, meeting of educational and psychosocial assessment and needs, procedural assisting and appropriate triaging of telephone calls, walk-ins and unstable veterans. May be assigned responsibilities as preceptor, team leader or charge nurse. Other duties as assigned. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
