ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Infection Control (ICNM) Nurse Manager is a registered nurse responsible for the assessment, planning, provision, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention and Control program, including oversight and management of the Multi-Drug Resistant Organism Program. The ICNM provides leadership to the IC team. The ICNM is the co-chair of the IC Committee sharing responsibility with the Infectious Disease Physician co-chair for administration of activities and decisions of the IC Committee.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties: Provide, direct and supervise the delivery of quality nursing care to a veteran population. Affectively implement activities towards health promotion and prevention, management of acute and chronic illness states, assisting the veterans in attainment of optimal levels of functioning through rehabilitation and provision of supportive measures for the dying patient and their significant others. Directing and organizing the unit-specific orientation, training, and development of Infection Control staff and for directing, supervising, and evaluating their performance. Clinical and administrative supervision. General instruction, assigning, overseeing, and evaluating work product, and approving leave for the Infection Control Section, including the Infection Control Practitioners, MDRO Coordinator, and infection control administrative support personnel. Designated first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the Infection Prevention and Control Program including the MDRO Program, ensuring that subordinate personnel provide timely review which complies with generally accepted standards of practice. Develops and implements an organizational vision that integrates key organizational and program goals, priorities, values, and other factors. Assesses and adjusts to changing situations, implementing innovative solutions to make organizational improvements, ranging from incremental improvements to major shifts in direction or approach, as appropriate. Recruits, retains, and develops the talent needed to achieve a high-quality workforce that reflects the nation, with the skills needed to accomplish organizational performance objectives. Executes the operating budget; prepares budget requests with justifications; and manages resources, submits equipment/furniture turn-in. Maintains inventory and records management as per unit /service requirement. Conduct quarterly attendance review and meet with employees. Explains, advocates, and expresses facts and ideas in a convincing manner and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally as appropriate. Develop a professional network with other organizations and identifies the internal and external politics that affect work of the organization. Note: All Registered Nurses must be a graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associated degree/entry level Nursing education program. Credit for foreign nursing education higher that associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD).
