<p>The Registered Nurse - Implant Coordinator is located at the Sterile Processing Service, John Cochran Building, of the VA St. Louis Health Care System. The incumbent will be responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or directing supervising direct patient care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Implant Coordinator RN demonstrates clinical competence by appropriately evaluating the different types of implants used throughout the medical center to determine the appropriate use, storage, and management of implants. The incumbent applies the application of knowledge/skills in caring for patients. The incumbent will primarily be assigned to planning, administering, and directing nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with advanced medical/surgical needs. The incumbent is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is accountable to the Associate Director of Patient Care Services (ADPCS). Some of the duties for this position are, but not limited to: Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Communicate effectively with healthcare members, vendors, and patients to ensure continuity of care within the Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. Responsible to patients and provider's requests to ensure customer satisfaction which reflects an understanding of implants and tissue processes. Coordinate all aspects of implant management by working with Supply Chain Management (SCM), Prosthetic and Sensory Aid Service (PSAS), Sterile Processing Service (SPS), the Contracting Officer (CO), and other clinical areas using implants. Reconcile implants used with VA-owned inventory and vendor consignment stock or list to ensure that adequate stock is available. Apply advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting. Use nursing expertise to lead improvement, with demonstrated outcomes, beyond the immediate practice setting. Communicate as an effective leader of the interprofessional team, at the expert level, with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes. Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
