ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Acute Nursing Inpatient Division in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. The Critical Care RN provides high levels of monitoring/surveillance for vulnerable, unstable, and complex patients who require complex assessments, therapies, and high-intensity interventions.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>This position is located in the Inpatient/Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The function of the Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) is to provide, direct, and supervise the delivery of quality nursing care to a mixed veteran population of varying complexity in the Acute Nursing Care Division. The additional Scope of Practice for the RN on the ICU requires professional competency, cognitive competency, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of critical care patterns of interaction to care for a population of patients at high risk for actual or life-threatening problems. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, and treat a highly vulnerable, unstable, and complex population requiring intense and vigilant nursing care.
