<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for all elements of the nursing process in direct patient care for critically ill patients. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care focused on patient education and satisfaction. The RN administers medications per established policies and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrates leadership, develops and revises policies, provides feedback to peers, supports professional development, and evaluates evidence-based outcomes. The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on age-specific components. The RN assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administering medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines, the RN influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. The RN executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex client care. Additionally, the RN collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. They demonstrate performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems, regardless of the nursing care setting. The RN provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement, supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care, and fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. The RN evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations and is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. These outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility. This nurse has vast experience and knowledge, skillfully integrating theoretical concepts and strong critical thinking skills, and exhibits expert technically skilled practice.
