ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The GI Clinic Procedure RN is responsible for preparation, education, and care of the Veterans during GI procedures. Overall services provided include a variety of consultative, diagnostic, and screening endoscopic gastroenterology services in a primarily outpatient setting. Most common GI procedures performed include: Colonoscopy, Endoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major duties include but are not limited too: Maintains competency on endoscope care and cleaning, storage, and maintenance Demonstrates proficiency in documentation using Provation Multi-care and other assigned Electronic Medical Record system Demonstrates competency in specimen collection and handling Assists with inventory and supply management of specialty products and ensure necessary Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) procedures are followed. Demonstrates flexibility and collaboration to support clinic coverage in variety of roles, including Admit RN, Sedation/Intro procedure, Recovery, Discharge, Pre-Calls, Patient and Staff Education roles Complies with all radiation safety guidelines and requirements for personal protection of self, staff and patients. Triages and applies a collaborative team approach in identifying, analyzing, and resolving patient care problems. Administration an monitoring of medications (including Moderate Sedation and other High Risk Medications) and maintains annual training requirements.
