<p>The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is seeking highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurses for our Float Pool. Our Float Pool serves as a resource pool for the entire facility to provide staffing needs to areas including Medical-Surgical, Mental Health, and Geriatric and Rehabilitative Care services. Float Pool RNs will float to areas in the hospital where they have the experience; providing prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured veterans.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Current, permanent GLA employees will be given the first consideration. Must submit most recent SF-50 to receive 1st consideration. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Float Pool RNs will directly report to the Float Pool Nurse Manager and to the Chief Nursing Service for Patient Flow Operations. He/she is responsible for the delivery of patient care in assigned areas based on scientific principles and the nursing process, and functions as a leader by assuming additional responsibility for improvement of patient care. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following: Assures detailed, current and comprehensive documentation is contained in the patient medical record and other pertinent records. Utilizes human and material resources to provide efficient and effective patient care. Continuously monitors the environment for potential and/or actual safety hazards. Assures adherence to strict safety procedures by all staff. Guides and directs patient care delivery of support staff. Provides input for staff evaluation to rating official(s). Participates in and initiates Quality Assessment and Improvement program activities as applicable to the clinical area. Promotes collaborative practice to provide and expedite quality patient care along the health care continuum; acts as patient advocate to assure appropriateness and quality of care. Assesses learning needs of patients and staff and implements appropriate teaching plan. Initiates and/or participates in studies pertaining to the ward assigned. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals in providing continuity of services for specific health issues. Improves continuity of professional relationships among the healthcare teams as they collaborate on behalf of patients. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Minimum 8hrs per bi-weekly pay period. Shifts will be assigned on an "as needed" basis and could include the following tours: 7:30am - 4:00pm, 3:30pm - 12:00am, and 11:30pm - 8:00am. Including the option to complete 12hr tours.
