ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Float Pool and Support Services, Nurse Manager, is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Float Pool and Support Services, Nurse Manager, duties include, but are not limited to the following: Demonstrates the fundamental knowledge of the unit and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and participating in process improvement initiatives. Has 24/7 oversight for quality, effective care in all areas of responsibility. Oversees the Nursing Float Pool and Escort Services. Responsible for adherence to Staffing Methodology principles and nursing hours per patient day (NHPPD) on off tours to ensure safe staffing levels throughout the medical center. Focuses on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments.
