ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy, aligned under Chief of Staff.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal procedural care. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. The Endoscopy RN delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy procedures including both inpatients and outpatients. Assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes. Seeks guidance on how to improve care provided to patients and families. Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient. The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills. The Endoscopy RN functions in many roles and may include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting physicians during procedures. They maintain proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of endoscopy specific equipment. They recognize changes in patient care situations and initiates appropriate emergency situations. Adapts to changes in the daily schedule.
