<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Emergency Department RN is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing care. They assess the patient by collecting pertinent data or information, including the triage of patients based on the five-level triage system to prioritize patients that require more immediate care. They use the assessment data to determine diagnoses, problems, or other concerns. They will identify expected outcomes to develop a collaborative and individualized plan for each patient. The ED RN will implement that plan, including care coordination, health teaching, and health promotion. They evaluate the progress toward achieving the expected goal and outcomes and adjusts the plan as necessary. The duties on the Emergency Department RN include but are not limited to- Independently plans and delivers technically competent care to patients with complex needs in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Manages the care of patients, while organizing and prioritizing patient care needs, and ensuring assigned tasks are completed. Functions as an emerging leader in providing direction to staff to identify, implement and evaluate patient care needs. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the plan of care is achieved. Provides and directs others in Veteran/patient driven care that optimizes the patient's experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for a team of patients. Maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient. Role models and displays ethical behavior. Recognizes ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and models appropriate action by providing and directing others in the provision of care following established policies and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Actively contributes to the collaboration process and clearly communicates ideas to promote team success. Makes meaningful and challenging contributions for the betterment of the work group. Shares knowledge and learning opportunities that enhance current nursing practice for self and others. Models effective resource utilization through the delegation of cost-effective care delivery.
