<p>The New York Harbor VA is looking to hire a Registered Nurse for Dialysis. This position will be located in the Manhattan Campus. The closing date for this position is 06/23/2026 or the point in which 50 applications are received, whichever comes first.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Dialysis Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Duties at the full performance level include but are not limited to: The Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse and a clinical expert who uses advanced specialized knowledge and judgement for delivery of high quality and evidence based care to patients with late-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Incumbent's scope of assignments includes direct care, clinical consultation, leadership, educational components, and evidence-based research. Provides leadership in case management and care coordination for Veterans. Handles multiple projects and duties simultaneously, prioritizing as needed. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems that result in improved outcomes. Recognizes ethical problems and serves as an expert resource or consultant to patients, families, or other allied health care providers. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for renal patients. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level.
