<p>The Nurse V Deputy Nurse Executive (DNE) is an advanced healthcare executive who demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to ensure the continuous and timely availability of quality nursing practice in a variety of complex patient care services and programs. They function as an executive administrator and consultant to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services to improve care for large groups of Veterans.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Assigned duties include, but are not limited to: Provides executive leadership and direct supervision for the Chief Nurse of Daily Nursing Operations and Professional Practice, Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO), Nurse Recruiter, Professional Governance and Pathway to Excellence Coordinator, Staffing Methodology Coordinator, Special Projects Officer and program assistant for the Nurse Qualification Standards Station Advisory Committee (NQS SAC). Under direction of the ADPCS is an active participant in the operations of Sterile Processing Service (SPS) including programmatic oversight and management. Responsible to evaluate technology and other systems that may impact the practice of nursing using a systems approach, they understand the implications of policies and practices on the nursing workforce and the Veterans served. Collaborates with other executives to lead strategic planning and goal development for nursing, complex decision-making, and problem solving related to health care services and organizational priorities. Improves the quality and effectiveness of the facility's overall health care delivery by providing leadership, coordinating, facilitating the evaluation and leading improvement projects related to nursing practice. Develops and deploys oversight systems to monitor, identify and analyze key performance indicators and variances. Provides analysis and reporting of data, developing action plans and interventions, and assesses successes of actions in follow up. Develops, implements and evaluates Models of Nursing Care. Collaboratively works with accreditation toward the goal of continuous preparedness. When opportunities for improvement are identified develops, implements and sustains corrective actions. Implements and sustains change plans that are assigned nursing related actions through Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) outcomes. Acts as a change agent by skillfully facilitating multiple teams, creating, implementing, and measuring large complex projects within the integrated health system. Oversight of nursing recruitment and retention strategies and outcomes. Oversight of the MVAHCS Professional Governance program.
