<p>The Clinical Nurse Consultant Registered Nurse position is located within the Nursing, Acute Care Services at the Phoenix VA Healthcare System (PVAHCS), Phoenix, AZ. Hayden Veterans' Administration Medical Center | VA Phoenix Health Care | Veterans Affairs</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) Consultant executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex patient care. Care will be provided in the least restrictive, most cost-effective manner, through use of outpatient utilization management criteria, clinical practice guidelines and clinical pathways. Assist with significant collaboration between community and Veterans Integrated Systems Network (VISN) healthcare personnel in the transition of veterans through the Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system. They demonstrate performance and leadership skills that start to impact the standard of care for all patients throughout the continuum of care. They are responsible for completing services within the organization that meets the requirements of National Directives. Provides quality and performance measures analysis and reporting of consult trends and systems issues through the utilization of the nursing process. Responsible for the triage and care coordination of complex patients, works closely with Veterans to ensure smooth transition of care to community or VA facilities and care related to referrals, improvement meetings and service meetings. They will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to improve the delivery of patient care. The consultant must be poised and articulate in communicating with all parties involved in the delivery of care, to include the Veteran, family, medical staff, community partners, etc. Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participates in activities and strategies to sustain evidence-based-practice. This improved process reduces traditional hiring timelines by integrating early coordination, faster assessments, and efficient pre-employment actions. Streamlined Pre-Employment Requirements: Following a tentative offer, applicants should be prepared to complete required steps, such as fingerprinting and background check, credentialing, and medical examination within 3 days of the offer. Clear and Timely Communication: Applicants will receive clear communication at key milestones, including referral, tentative offer, and onboarding instructions. After meeting pre-employment requirements, candidates will receive a final job offer and start date. Onboarding tasks may continue after starting, with HR ensuring timely completion for a smooth transition into VA service. If selected, applicants should be prepared to come onboard within 30 days of the announcement closing.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
