<p>This position serves as Chief of Sterile Processing Service; This position is a direct report to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS) of the VAPIHCS and is characterized by responsibility and accountability for all elements of nursing process when providing oversight and direction for aspects of the Sterile Processing Service across the organization and assessing outcomes. This position might require occasional local travel to near by Community-Based Outpatient Clinics.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>This position is characterized by responsibility and accountability for all elements of nursing process when providing oversight and direction for aspects of Sterile Processing across the organization and assessing outcomes. The duties related to this position include but are not limited to the following: Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates outcomes. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of all aspects of the sterile processing service to include high level disinfection, sterilization, sterile storage, infection control and prevention as well as customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Ensures that all applicable Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policies and guidelines are followed and that the American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) guidelines are followed. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Responsible for administrative functions of the SPS program which includes membership on the following committees: Infection Prevention/Control; Water Safety Committee (Biomedical Engineering); Clinical Executive Council (CEC); Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) XX Advisory Board; Clinical Product Review Committee (CPRC); Reusable Medical Device (RMD) Committee, Environment of Care (EOC) Rounds; and the Enterprise Equipment Request (EER) Committee. Establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of medical center personnel and relate effectively with customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leaders at the local and network levels Assists in policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and SPS program and collaborate with other health care staff to establish and maintain programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and health care Other duties as assigned VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm (This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments) Telework: Available / Ad-hoc may be authorized at Supervisory discretion Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
