ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>VA Tampa Healthcare is seeking to hire experienced Registered Nurse to work as our Chief Nurse of Operations. As Chief Nurse, you will provide program management to ensure coordination of care, including oversight of nursing clinical practice, administrative, and leadership accountability for your assigned areas; execute leadership for integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence the organizational mission and health care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Chief Nurse of Operations is responsible for the oversight and operations of the Emergency Department, Nursing Supervisors, Transport team, Sitter Pool, Nurse Resource pool, Timekeeping, Diabetic Educators, PICC team, and Wound Care team. The Chief Nurse, Nursing Operations provides senior leadership within nursing, as directed by the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS) and/or the Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services (DADPCS). Duties listed but not limited to: Member of the nursing executive leadership team and is responsible for all aspects of care that fall under the operations service line. Possesses solid knowledge of Nursing and Emergency Nursing regulations, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) guidelines, medical review criteria, clinical practice and documentation requirements, current standards of care, and compliance guidelines. They are responsible for the practice of nursing 24/7 and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, standards of patient care, treatment, and services, nursing practice standards, staffing plans, functional statements, and standards to measure, assess, and improve patient outcomes. The incumbent appropriately delegates activities to services assigned to them under their purview. Ensures a competency process is in place to evaluate individual practice, as well as a review process for annual performance ratings. The Chief Nurse, Nursing Operations supports the integration and collaboration of nursing with other professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient centered and organizational goals. They champion a High-Reliability Organization (HRO) with a culture of safety founded on a systems approach to developing evidence-based healthcare solutions based on prevention, not punishment, with collective mindfulness. The Chief Nurse, Nursing Operations collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network. They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. Responsible for championing activities supporting nursing excellence, quality improvement, and unit-based and/or organizational-level Shared Governance councils. Highly efficient in staffing methodology</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
