ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process in providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Adheres to established policies, standards of care, and standards of practice. Provides direct nursing care in a self-directed, patient-focused manner. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care using age-specific considerations. Coordinates patient care throughout the continuum-admission through discharge-and supports patient and family education and self management. Conducts mental health assessments, develops nursing diagnoses, and plans, implements, and evaluates psychiatric-mental health nursing interventions. Promotes health, assesses dysfunction, and supports patients in restoring or improving coping abilities while working to prevent further disability. Performs psychiatric-focused interventions including health promotion, health maintenance, intake screening, evaluation, case management, and therapeutic environment management. Tracks patients, supports self-care activities, and conducts outreach such as home visits and community engagement. Administers and monitors psychobiological treatment regimens, including prescribed psychopharmacologic agents, and observes their effects. Provides crisis intervention, counseling, and health teaching as part of holistic patient care. Administers medications and procedures in accordance with established policies and guidelines Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to positively influence care outcomes. Actively participates in program-level quality improvement initiatives and customer service programs Leads or participates in shared governance initiatives at the unit or department level. Supports and engages in organizational initiatives such as High Reliability Organization (HRO), Patient-Centered Care, Just Culture, and I CARE values. Performs duties primarily within the Behavioral Health Department, with occasional reassignment based on patient care needs.
