ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The VA St. Louis Health Care System-John J Cochran Division is seeking a Registered Nurse-Associate Director for Patient Care Service (ADPCS)/Nurse Executive. This position directly reports to the Medical Center Director. The ADPCS is an advanced healthcare executive who executes responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches in the guidance and direction of a variety of complex patient care services and programs.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The ADPCS Nurse Executive is responsible for the practice of nursing 24/7. This includes all registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and allied health staff (LPNs, NAs, etc.) regardless of line authority. This position functions as an administrator, educator, and consultant with a wide range of experience and authority that is broad enough to improve care for large groups of Veterans through their influence over policy development and decisions at the local, regional, state levels, and beyond. They are accountable to the Health Care System Medical Director and are an integral part of the senior leadership team. Duties include but are not limited to: Chief Spokesperson for the organized Nursing Services Strategic planning, organization assessment and program development Participates with Executive Leadership Team and strategic thought leaders in the facility to initiate and execute planning and decision making processes Exercises final authority and approval for job descriptions, policies, and procedures; standards of patient care, treatment, and services; nursing practice standards; staffing plans; functional statements; and standards to measure, assess, and improve patient outcomes Delegates activities to those Service lines under the purview of the ADPCS/Nurse Executive Ensures all Registered Nurses, Advanced Practice Nurses, and licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses are licensed, certified, and/or registered upon employment, and thereafter. Ensures a competency process is in place to evaluate individual practice, as well as a review process for annual performance ratings Promotes a healthy work environment for nursing through the implementation of shared decision-making Champions a High Reliability Organization (HRO) PLEASE NOTE: This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If selected, applicants will provide proof of current certifications prior to employment. Only BLS certification which includes Automated External Defibrillator (AED) obtained from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Treatment Training Network (MTN) will be accepted.
