<p>The Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr , Memphis VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee is currently recruiting for an Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) in the Ambulatory Care Department. The Supervisory ANM supports the Nurse Manager with the operation of their designated unit(s). This role combines clinical knowledge with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future Nurse Managers positions.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future NM positions, providing opportunities to develop management skills and prepare for higher-level leadership. Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or overseeing direct patient care. The ANM assesses, plans and implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self management, and customer service throughout the continuum of care. The ANM demonstrates sound decision-making and judgement and possess excellent interpersonal skills. The ANM is self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to: Serving as first line supervisor of nursing personnel in the patient care area Supervise nursing assistants and/or licensed practical/vocational nurses Supervise personnel on evening/night shift tours Approving schedules and leave for employees Appraising performance, recommending performance standards, and recommending performance awards Serving as hiring official during recruitment process Recommend proposed discipline or grievance Drafting schedules and leave for final approval Providing input into performance of employees Assist with making recommendations for selection of candidates for employment Applying clinical knowledge/judgement to lead staff Overseeing work assignments and providing report of contact or assisting with fact findings as needed.
