ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Registered Nurse (Assistant Nurse Manager) functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. The incumbent assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>In collaboration with the Cardiac Catheterization Lab/Heart Station (CCL/HS) Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) functions as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the operation of a designated CCL/HS unit in conjunction with and in the absence of the Nurse Manager. The effective ANM candidate will demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of employees providing complex care for cardiology patients. In addition, they will apply skills necessary to identify, coordinate, and/or identify discipline-specific education, as well as training in leadership, professional staff development and emerging needs, to all levels of staff. The ANM provides first line supervision and oversight for assigned staff in collaboration with the Nurse Manager. The ANM assists in the design, implementation and evaluation of unit-based Nursing programs and goals. These are congruent with the service mission, philosophy, policies and procedures and the Standards of Nursing Care and Practice. There are 9 major responsibilities of the Assistant Nurse Manager: Assists the Nurse Manager in managing patient care operation at the unit level. Role models collaborative leadership and communicates effectively. Monitors quality of patient care and nursing practice. Develops and/or provides education for staff to meet specific patient care needs. Participates in the unit-based staffing methodology activities. Complies with Organizational Expectations. Participates heavily in unit resource/equipment utilization and management. Assures compliance with standards and regulations related to clinical practice through audits, data collection, interpretation, and reporting of findings with appropriate recommendations including VANOD and other nurse sensitive data bases. Assures that customers are treated in a professional manner with tact, courtesy, and respect. Other duties as assigned.
