<p>The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as a clinical expert, accountable for all elements of the nursing process in providing and supervising direct patient care. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent clinical judgment, interpersonal skills, and is a self-directed leader who collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and drives innovative process improvements to achieve optimal patient outcomes.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>A Career At VA Salt Lake City Health Care System Can Take You Places (youtube.com) Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Represents the unit/clinic in the absence of the NM and ensure efficient clinic operations Able to provide patient care as outlined by the Nursing staff job descriptions for the unit/clinic Acts as direct supervisor for designated staff and is responsible for mid-year and end-of-year evaluations in collaboration with Nurse Manager Assists with payroll duties Assists Nurse Manager in the hiring/selection process for Nursing staff Supports Nurse Manager in collecting and preparing evidence for disciplinary actions for Nursing staff Identifies potential crisis situations and responds effectively in emergency/code situations in the clinic. Functions as a resource person to nursing and other personnel for clinic practices and patient care issues. Collaborates with the Unit Education Coordinator in preparation and delivery of education/information to staff Works with Nurse Manager in mentoring new staff and students in clinical and professional skill development acting as a role model Monitors clinic staffing needs and maintains adequate levels to ensure safe patient care Maintains a safe clinic environment by routinely inspecting the area and requesting supportive services assistance as needed; in accordance with the Environment of Care (EOC) standards Communicates and/or mediates effectively with staff and support personnel to solve patient care and staff issues. Assists the Nurse Manager in monitoring clinic for compliance with applicable performance measures and Joint Commission standard Responsible for charge nurse training and mentoring Acts as Charge Nurse on the shifts/days worked in staffing when needed. Assists the Nurse Manager in departmental projects and initiatives Assists the Nurse Manager in oversight of clinically assigned performance measures Provides interpretation and rationale for hospital policies and procedures to personnel, physicians, and others Audits charts for complete documentation as required for specific clinical Outpatient setting Proficient using VA EMR and nursing specific documentation Monitors the completion of annual and intermittent competencies are completed, such as RQI, PMDB, and clinic specific requirements Assists the Nurse Manager to monitor status of Nursing licenses (LPN, RN) Demonstrates proactive approach and demonstrates Servant Leadership style toward teambuilding and fostering a positive work environment Promotes effective collaboration among all PACT team members Demonstrates ability to surrogate coverage and perform other PACT staff members as needed Provides knowledge and assistance to pull data specific to PACT and panel management Provides and documents patient education specific to disease states Assists the Nurse Manager in developing and implementing plans to meet learning needs and skill development of Nursing staff. Maintains professional boundaries with patients, families, and employees. Ensures application of institutional policy to protect information from unauthorized release, loss, alteration, or deletion.
