ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) Ambulatory Surgery Unit - Post Anesthesia Care Unit is seeking qualified applicants to join our team!</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Pain Management Registered Nurse (RN) identifies gaps in knowledge or care delivery within the pain management team and initiatives interprofessional education and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes. Develops audits and/or research activities to improve evidence-based standards of care. Advocates for a Whole Health model of care and treatment of patients with pain and provides leadership to clinical support staff in advocating for patients' care and rights beyond immediate care needs. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level. Program is defined as a substantial coordinated group of activities impacting patients and/or employees. Duties include but not limited to the following: Contributes to facility wide quality improvement and mentorship activities. Provides education to nurses and other healthcare professionals on pain theory and nursing care of patients with acute and persistent pain outside of the inpatient setting locally, regionally, and nationally. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care.
