The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a PRN Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse will function on unit 6B within Acute Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders Nursing in Patient Care Services, Nursing Service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Registered Nurse - Acute Spinal Cord Injury - 6B - PRN duties include but are not limited to: Provides competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Practice includes directing other providers. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum. This nurse has fundamental experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice. Demonstrates integration of biopsychosocial concepts, cognitive skills, and technically competent practice while providing care to clients. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Practice: Delivers professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with general supervision. Expectations: Plans and delivers technically competent care to patients in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks ensuring assigned delegated tasks are completed by team members. Manages nursing care of patients, organizes, and completes own assignments in a safe and timely manner, assisting team members as necessary. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care. Demonstrates the ability to communicate confidently with members of the healthcare team and demonstrate professional behaviors that promotes cooperation and teamwork. Shares knowledge and creates opportunities for collaboration that encourage team cohesiveness. Utilizes available resources and sound clinical judgement to achieve results. Demonstrates professional behavior and works effectively with others, builds on strengths, and takes positive action to meet growing responsibilities.
