<p>The Registered Nurse will demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include but not limited to; The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization. This nurse integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations. Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. The nurse will demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. The nurse demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills. Delivers self-directed, professional nursing practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) for complex patients based on conscious and deliberate planning with occasional supervision. Independently plans and delivers technically competent care to patients with complex needs in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice Manages the care of patients, while organizing and prioritizing patient care needs, and ensuring assigned tasks are completed. Functions as an emerging leader in providing direction to staff to identify, implement and evaluate patient care needs Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the plan of care is achieved. Provides and directs others in Veteran/patient driven care that optimizes the patient's experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for a team of patients Maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient. Role models and displays ethical behavior Recognizes ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and models appropriate action by providing and directing others in the provision of care following established policies and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses Models' high reliability principles and I CARE values to improve patient outcomes Demonstrates knowledge over a wide range of job responsibilities, effectively communicating with individuals and groups to build a strong sense of teamwork and purpose. Actively contributes to the collaboration process and clearly communicates ideas to promote team success. Makes meaningful and challenging contributions for the betterment of the work group. Is confident of abilities, effectively initiates solutions and, is alert to new opportunities, techniques, and approaches Preferred Experience: BSN Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and communicate professionally with patients, families, and healthcare staff. Exposure to electronic health record (EHR) documentation during nursing program clinical experiences. Demonstrated adaptability, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced clinical environment.Active interest in pursuing a career in acute care or medical/surgical nursing. New graduate Registered Nurses, including those with recent inpatient clinical experience during nursing school, are encouraged to apply. This position is being filled to support a balanced team of experienced and early-career Registered Nurses. Applicants with a variety of backgrounds, including new graduate nurses with recent inpatient clinical experience and those with prior Medical/Surgical nursing experience, are encouraged to apply. Foreign Education. Graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing who possess a current, full, active and unrestricted registration (see paragraph 3c) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associate degree level Nursing education program. In order to grant credit towards an appointment based on foreign nursing education higher than the associate degree level, formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized degree equivalency evaluation agency accepted by VA such as the International Consultants of Delaware (ICD) must be obtained. Note: Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment.
