<p>The Nurse will demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. The 4NW Telemetry/Stepdown RN is a professional who provides high-quality, evidence-based care for Veteran patients who are admitted to the inpatient setting for an acute medical-surgical problem, require diagnostic treatments that cannot be facilitated in the outpatient setting, and who commonly require telemetry/cardiac monitoring.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include but not limited to: The 4NW Registered Nurses (RNs) recognize early signs and symptoms and medical treatment of dysrhythmias, performs assessment and reassessment of the medical-surgical patient, and treat pain appropriately. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. ACLS certification required upon entry into position and maintained throughout employment. Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment (BART) training required within 6 months of hire. Experienced RNs may challenge this requirement by taking an exam in lieu of the class. All RNs must successfully pass a BART exam during the initial training and annually thereafter. The Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization. This nurse integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations. Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. The nurse will demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. The nurse demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills.
